I've just come across some brief summaries of an early concept of Hero: 108, obtained from released materials from 2005 and 2007. (For those who don't know, Hero: 108 has been in the public eye since as late as 2004.)
From 2005:
"HERO:108 is the story of a group of kid defenders set on ending a conflict between animals and humans in a hidden kingdom. The show follows the life of Lin Chung (a.k.a. Panther Eye), a boy with special powers that he can't control. Based on the ancient Chinese novel THE WATER MARGIN, HERO:108 features Asian character designs by Phoenix, a member of Gamania's in-house creative development team."
From 2007:
"HERO:108 is a coming-of-age tale, focused on 14-year-old Lin Chung (a.k.a. Panther Eye), a young warrior with special powers. Lin is part of a group of kid defenders determined to end a conflict between animals and humans in a hidden kingdom. Based on the ancient Chinese novel THE WATER MARGIN, HERO:108 features striking Asian-influenced character designs by show creator Phoenix Tarng, who is also part of Gamania's in-house creative development team."
The latter release suggest Hero: 108 may have originally been intended for half hour instalments rather than quarter hour.
